Planning for Travel and Purchases

This spring I have been teaching my students how to process data in the R language, and how to use plugins to generate maps. Here I have used this method to provide a sort of 21st-century “Green Book” for people who want to plan their travels and their purchases based on the politics of selected counties.

Based on my previous posts, you can guess how I will use this information. Considering who stood behind the felon during his inauguration, I am learning to live without Amazon and Meta services. I am researching which businesses funded the Project 2025 report, and which ones voluntarily abandoned their diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. Our state is 40% Latine, 34% Anglo, 15.5% Asian-American, 5.4% African-American, and a rich mixture of multi-ethnic individuals. As a sworn public servant of both the US and the California Constitutions, diversity is a fundamental reality of our society. DEI is not an option that can be abandoned. And I would rather promote equity than choose inequity. I would rather promote inclusion than choose exclusion. I would rather be known for fighting for justice (a “social justice warrior”) rather than its opposite: someone who strives for injustice. And I would rather be identified as opposing fascism (in other words Anti-Fascist) rather than the alternative: someone who condones or even promotes fascism.

The counties that are not shown are low-population counties that voted for Trump by smaller margins. They are redeemable and might swing towards a different candidate (and different type of candidate) in future elections. As for the counties with extreme bias towards our current felon of a president, consider how they might treat you if they pulled you over on a darkened road. Are you white enough? Are you straight enough? Do you conform enough? Remember, these are anti-Christians who reject teachings like the parable of the Good Samaritan. If they encountered Jesus, they would probably beat him up and call him a liberal wuss. And they are not loyal to the Constitution, so don’t expect due process.
